Jim McKinniss says of his series, 'At the Museum', "I am a great admirer of the Impressionist painters, especially Degas.
My travels have taken me to 32 countries. Whenever possible I explore the museums in the cities that I find myself visiting. During my trip to Paris in 2019 I learned that there was an Impressionist exhibition at Musee D’Orsay and another at the Grand Palais. I went to both and while at Musee D’orsay I had the idea to make Impressionist-like photographs of the exhibition. To do that I simply used a long shutter and added a slight camera movement. I continued with this idea while visiting the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, California.
The results of those museum visits are what you see in these photos."

ASCENSION by Kathryn Dunlevie
HONORABLE MENTION

HONORABLE MENTION
(Click on image for larger view)
Kathryn Dunlevie says of her series 'Entanglement', "Recent human activity has brought about environmental change on a colossal scale. As increased levels of carbon dioxide in our air cause temperatures and sea levels to rise, the ecosystems upon which animals and plants depend suffer along with all our natural and developed environments.
We can no longer avoid the fact that all aspects of the physical world are intricately linked. Discoveries in quantum physics, moreover, teach us that even at the subatomic level, quantum entanglement can cause particles to become interrelated and affected by each other’s behavior.
To illustrate this interconnectedness, I am combining my photos of zoos and natural history museums with those of contemporary urban settings. The compositions suggest our planet’s current state of disruption and the strange bedfellows this disruption creates.
As I build each composition, interweaving elements from the natural world with images from constructed spaces, displaced animals materialize in anomalous locations. Stunned to find themselves in alien surroundings – disoriented, mistrustful, even forlorn – they mutely proclaim their vulnerability, and remind us of our own."
Kathryn Dunlevie is a photography-based artist whose work has been exhibited throughout the U.S. and internationally. Cathy Kimball, former Executive Director of the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, writes of Dunlevie’s work: "Through brilliant compositional detail and manipulation, she creates disconcerting, inexplicable spaces and scenarios - streetscapes that elude mapmakers and interior settings that are almost, but not quite, right."
Born on the east coast, Dunlevie lived in six different states by the time she was 12, and in Paraguay when she was 16. She has a B.A. in fine arts from Rice University, and studied art history and film at the University of Paris, painting at California College of the Arts, and photography in Madrid. She lives in Palo Alto.
Dunlevie has received numerous awards and fellowships, including two Arts Council Silicon Valley Artist Laureate Fellowships. Her work has been exhibited at FotoFest International since 2002, at the Pingyao International Photography Festival in China, at Studio Thomas Kellner in Germany, in the US Art in Embassies Program in Moscow and in Saatchi Arts’ Best of 2014.
Publications reviewing her work have included Spain’s La Fotografia Actual, Korea’s photo + and Germany’s Profifoto, as well as The New York Times, Camerawork: A Journal of Photographic Arts, Photo Metro, Artweek, and Artlies.
Highlights of Career:
Included in the Women’s History Month exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Artists Gallery, San Francisco, California (2021)
Solo exhibitions at FotoFest International (Houston) (2002 - 2020)
Included in the San Francisco PhotoAlliance Bay Area Current(ly) exhibition (2020)

DISNEY HALL WONDERLAND by Jane Gottlieb

Saturated colours, altered perspective and changing common points of view into something unique and intriguing: this is Jane Gottlieb, introducing us to a contemporary Wonderland with her strongly theatrical effects. Her artworks show how a classical composition can be turned into a visual challenge, incited by vivid colors.
Here home is her masterpiece: filled with her art, colorful Italian modern furniture, every wall inside and outside are painted with beautiful bright colors.
An artist all her life, she has been creating
her artworks the over the last 30 years with her lifetime collection of photographs that she has taken traveling all over the world and the magic of photoshop. Her art has been exhibited in many galleries and museums all across the US and Europe, featured in numerous magazines, and displayed in the many international art expos.
Gottlieb says, "I am proud to announce that I have just installed over 150 large art works in eight different buildings at UCLA and UCSB. Just installed a commission for the UCSB Library that is 14’x15’!
I have been expressing my joy of art with paint, shapes and colors since I was very young. I began as a painter, evolved into a photographer, and eventually began painting on individual photographic prints over thirty years ago. I hand painted vivid colors on my Cibachrome prints, creating a wonderful new reality. Now I scan my one-of-a-kind hand-painted prints & collection of photos taken over a lifetime all around the world andI paint, collage and enhance them with Photoshop.
Color is luscious to me. It’s a luxury to be able to fill my life with color. Color is energy; it evokes emotion and feelings. It’s the other side of intellectual, and it makes you feel good—it really does pick you up, and it makes you smile.
My art has been exhibited worldwide in many solo exhibitions:
Butler Institute of American Art; Carnegie Art Museum in Oxnard, CA; Laguna Art Museum. CA; Petersen Automotive Museum, LA, CA; UCSB Art, Design & Architecture Museum, MAD Art Gallery, Milan, Italy, LA County Museum of Natural History, CA; Monterey Museum of Art, CA; Louis Stern Gallery, West Hollywood, CA; Wall Space Gallery, Santa Barbara, CA; Nancy Hoffman Gallery, New York City; L’Image Gallery, Rome, Italy, Colorinda Gallery, Lisbon. Portugal
I have been included in countless group exhibits over the last 30 years, and collected by museums, foundations, corporations and individuals worldwide. Many magazine articles, magazine and book covers, two museum exhibition catalogues and two books have been published of my art, Garden Tales and Car Tales."
