Maria Dupovkina- Father Baikal Let Me Fly 15
This image continues to grab my interest mostly because I can’t tell what the weird and wonderful shapes are underneath the subject. They draw me in, and make the image attain a sort of a sci-fi edge to it.- Lori Pond
This is one of my favorite photographs. Is she lying on bubbles? Is she drifting over fields of icicles? There's something about the girls serene face that says 'I don't care about any obstacles. I'm floating over the virus!"- Laurie Freitag

Mohammad Shahnewaz Khan- Life in the Cage 01
I feel boundaries and borders dissolving when I look at this body of work. Universal feelings are expressed in these photographs that we can all identify with, having to be isolated from each other in society as we are. I feel privileged and humbled to be able to look into this family’s life—all of it, the good and the bad. There are many poignant moments that are captured, along with tenderness, frustration and anger, to name a few that pop up again and again.
Perhaps the most poignant moment of these visuals is the self-portrait with dead fish because of the great vulnerability shown in the gesture of holding the fish. The photographer is inviting us into his private thoughts, which become our thoughts through the magic of photography.- Lori Pond
Shahnewaz Khan is a great storyteller -period. I could have looked at 100 images of his. Each one of his images are an exhilarating insight into the mundane. He makes so much of so little. I think we can all understand how the name, 'Life in the Cage' speaks to the idea of imprisonment and confinement but really, what is expressed here are many moments that make a life worthwhile.
