Laurie Freitag, an iPhone photographer based in Los Angeles, identifies as a documentary fine art photographer.

Her formative years in the Bronx, Coney Island, and Far Rockaway, N.Y., significantly influence her work as she examines themes of childhood, memory, and mortality.

Drawn to both the natural world and the essence of childhood, her images often serve as an escape from the stress of daily life, offering glimpses of innocence and calm amidst the chaos while celebrating the serenity found in fleeting moments of connection.

Laurie's most recent achievement was being chosen to participate in Julia Dean's Projecting L.A. where 24 of Laurie's images from 'The Lost  Years' were projected onto a 3-story building, 80 feet wide with an audience of over 2,000 people.

Her work has received international acclaim, exhibited in galleries spanning Los Angeles to Greece, Paris, and Barcelona.

Laurie's documentary work with children earned her the prestigious Julia Margaret Cameron Award for Women in 2022, and she achieved recognition in Photolucidia's Critical Mass 200, 2023.

She was listed as 1 of 20 best female photographers for 2021 ('The Lost Years' series) by The Phoblographer Magazine.

"Searching for the mysterious in the mundane has inspired me ever since I picked up my father's camera and placed my first stroke of color on a canvas. After photographing landscapes in a traditional way, I discovered the unexpected and painterly aspects of using black and white infrared film and infrared converted digital cameras. Shooting using the infrared spectrum is always an exciting surprise. Each time I shoot, the resulting image is a wonderful discovery, a mysterious visual treasure hunt."

CONTACT: Lori Pond
lori@loripond.com

Lori Pond is a photographic artist based in Los Angeles, California. Her photography encompasses themes such as fear, good vs. evil, life and death, the impermanence of all things, and most recently, an exploration of “liminal spaces,” both emotional and physical.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Performance and Spanish Language from Indiana University. She also has a Masters Degree in Broadcast Journalism from USC. Her interest in photography has been lifelong, starting with using a Polaroid Land Camera for her junior high school newspaper.

She has studied photography with such luminaries as Aline Smithson, JoAnn Callis, Richard Tuschman, and Dan Burkholder.

She has shown her work in solo and group exhibitions all over the US and abroad. Her work has also been published by The Sun, Dek Unu, All About Photo, Dodho, Analog Forever, Shadow and Light, California Love—A Visual Mixtape, and The Hand.

Lori is an advisor for Pasadena Photography Arts, for which she applied for (and received!) a grant from the Pasadena Community Foundation in 2022. She also co-hosts PPA’s Open Show and Forum programs, which feature both up and coming and established photographic artists.

CONTACT:
zaslovemara@gmail.com

“Aging Gracefully” strives to capture my friend's free spirit in the face of old age. Rather than seeing the passing years as a trial, Inge takes time to “smell the roses”. My hope was to tap into the poignancy of aging by allowing these images to illustrate decline, as well as Inge's resiliency. Perhaps how she presents herself might encourage others to have less trepidation about getting older. Rather than feeling defeated, viewing these images of Inge could prompt people to recognize that there is dignity and joy in aging.
