Gun Roze says, "As a photographer, my defining year was 2012. While living in New York City I discovered a series of colour 35mm negatives of images I photographed mainly on the streets of Manhattan in 1982. This discovery inspired me to return to street photography in NYC, though from a resident’s perspective this time.
Being a dedicated walker, I choose to use a compact point-and-shoot digital camera for its easy access along all my routes. I photograph whatever intuitively attracts my attention or interests me. I have no need to plan my street captures since I am fully present when out and about. My natural approach allows for repeated routes and previous finds to be experienced anew.
My intention is to transform overlooked and ordinary subject matter into extraordinary images. With this emphasis I regard myself primarily as a street-based photographer. I also thoroughly enjoy creative collaborations with my fellow artists to photograph honest and compelling portraits."

DISNEY HALL WONDERLAND by Jane Gottlieb
HONORABLE MENTION

HONORABLE MENTION
(Click on image for larger view)
Saturated colours, altered perspective and changing common points of view into something unique and intriguing: this is Jane Gottlieb, introducing us to a contemporary Wonderland with her strongly theatrical effects. Her artworks show how a classical composition can be turned into a visual challenge, incited by vivid colors.
Here home is her masterpiece: filled with her art, colorful Italian modern furniture, every wall inside and outside are painted with beautiful bright colors.
An artist all her life, she has been creating
her artworks the over the last 30 years with her lifetime collection of photographs that she has taken traveling all over the world and the magic of photoshop. Her art has been exhibited in many galleries and museums all across the US and Europe, featured in numerous magazines, and displayed in the many international art expos.
Gottlieb says, "I am proud to announce that I have just installed over 150 large art works in eight different buildings at UCLA and UCSB. Just installed a commission for the UCSB Library that is 14’x15’!
I have been expressing my joy of art with paint, shapes and colors since I was very young. I began as a painter, evolved into a photographer, and eventually began painting on individual photographic prints over thirty years ago. I hand painted vivid colors on my Cibachrome prints, creating a wonderful new reality. Now I scan my one-of-a-kind hand-painted prints & collection of photos taken over a lifetime all around the world andI paint, collage and enhance them with Photoshop.
Color is luscious to me. It’s a luxury to be able to fill my life with color. Color is energy; it evokes emotion and feelings. It’s the other side of intellectual, and it makes you feel good—it really does pick you up, and it makes you smile.
My art has been exhibited worldwide in many solo exhibitions:
Butler Institute of American Art; Carnegie Art Museum in Oxnard, CA; Laguna Art Museum. CA; Petersen Automotive Museum, LA, CA; UCSB Art, Design & Architecture Museum, MAD Art Gallery, Milan, Italy, LA County Museum of Natural History, CA; Monterey Museum of Art, CA; Louis Stern Gallery, West Hollywood, CA; Wall Space Gallery, Santa Barbara, CA; Nancy Hoffman Gallery, New York City; L’Image Gallery, Rome, Italy, Colorinda Gallery, Lisbon. Portugal
I have been included in countless group exhibits over the last 30 years, and collected by museums, foundations, corporations and individuals worldwide. Many magazine articles, magazine and book covers, two museum exhibition catalogues and two books have been published of my art, Garden Tales and Car Tales."

HOLLOW 01 by Gosia Machaczka

(Click on image for larger view)
Gosia Machaczka says, "Always curious and hungry for more, I was drawn to the nightlife - eccentricity and the promise that no dream is too big in Los Angeles. I found myself moving very spontaneously, like it was my last chance to save myself from settling with Swedish life.
The country where the Law of Jante – “You are not to think you're anyone special, or that you're better than us” - is still very much practiced. I was tired of the disapproval towards those who do things out of the ordinary, or are personally ambitious, and I was desperate to try to break free.
At a first glance, LA seemed to be full of smiling people talking about bright futures, with a very shiny surface often set to blind others. However, the surface seemed somewhat off, like it was put on in a haste, just like the paint on the walls of my new apartment. So, I started to pick on it, peeling one layer after another, until I made it to what was hidden behind. Loneliness, emptiness, and sometimes even despair was just as present here as it was back home. Instead of adding another layer of paint I chose to bring the darkness to light with a series of photographs."
Swedish and Polish raised, Los Angeles based image maker Gosia Machaczka took her time to explore different ways of creating.
As an artist she knows that inspiration and creativity is not restricted to only one outlet. She is a portrait, product, and concert photographer driven by storytelling. Color, contrast and drama are frequently used in her work, channeling the glamour and grit of the LA lifestyle.

UNDERWEAR DISPLAY, BARCELONA by Gary Beeber
Gary Beeber says, "I am drawn to subjects I find to be incongruous, and have often been told that I see things that other people don’t pay much attention to. The images I capture speak to me in a variety of ways, fulfilling an insatiable curiosity about the world and everything in it. As I photograph, I make adjustments with the composition and perspective. I also make changes based on how I foresee the printed image.
I’ve used a lot of cameras over the years but prefer digital because I like immediacy. When I started getting serious about photography digital cameras didn’t exist, nor did personal computers. I used computers early on but they were very primitive by today’s standards.I like to come back to themes and been working on the “Passages” and “Sylvester Manor” series for several years.
For me, it’s exciting to see how things change over time and sometimes disappear altogether. I prefer quiet places where I can spend time thinking about each subject without interruption, but sometimes that’s not possible. Some places I know about and some places I find by chance."
Gary Beeber is an award-winning American photographer/filmmaker who has exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the United States and Europe.
His documentary films have screened at over 120 film festivals. Solo (photography) exhibitions include two at Generous Miracles Gallery (NYC), two at the Griffin Museum of Photography, and upcoming exhibitions at PRAXIS Photo Arts Center (Minneapolis), and the Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts (Providence, RI).
Beeber’s work has also been included in juried exhibitions throughout the world. Among Fortune 500 companies who collect his work are Pfizer Pharmaceutical, Goldman Sachs and Chase Bank.

WESTMINSTER PALACE by Eric Renard

(Click on image for larger view)
Eric Renard says, '336 Hours in the U.K.', which can whittled down by eating, sleeping, indecision and driving are not enough time see the U.K. but we did our best. I think we logged close to 1,300 miles, driving on the wrong side of the road with the steering wheel in the wrong hand and manually shifting with the hand too.
I am not sure how many rotaries we went thru or how many times Siri tried to send us down one way streets, but we did our best. The hardest part of all this was condensing this massive trek into just 6 images which is not enough to share this adventure but I did my best. And I would change a thing except the limit on 6 images.Artist BioEric M Renard (www.ericrenardphotography.com) is a Los Angeles based photographer. Born in New York, he attended school just outside NYC. Eric spent his summers in Maine, where he was first introduced to photography and learned his way around a darkroom."
Eric’s passion for photography was reignited at Tufts University in Boston, where he studied under Siegfried Halus. After graduating, Eric moved to San Francisco and worked as an architectural photographer before moving to Los Angeles. Eric’s unique exposure to both urban and rural life can be seen throughout his work, as he is equally at home in both settings. Usually working in black and white, his urban cityscapes and rural landscapes often reflect an eerie sense of peace and quiet, rarely portraying more than one or two people. Eric’s photography has been exhibited in galleries in Los Angeles, New York, Oregon, Texas, Minnesota and digitally around the world, receiving numerous awards.

Eric Davidove says, "I am a California native street photographer who currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area, and started taking street photography seriously in March 2015. My time spent as a street mime comes in handy, giving me the ability to anticipate street moments and be there with my camera as they happen, and to take photos without being noticed or upsetting people."

HARVARD BRIDGE by Edward Boches
(Click on image for larger view)
(Click on image for larger view)
Edward Boches says about his series,
'Somewhere Along the Curve', In Boston, a typical spring brings the city to life.Tourists clog the Freedom Trail. Students emerge from their dorms to sun themselves along the Charles River. The well-heeled residents of the Back Bay fill outdoor cafe tables along Newbury Street.
However, in the spring of 2020, when the pandemic struck, Boston changed overnight. The ubiquitous duck boats disappeared. Thousands of students never returned from spring break. And instead, empty streets, shuttered businesses and vacant subway cars became the new landscape.
But void of people and traffic, and absent of energy, the city was eerily beautiful, creating wide open spaces that let us re-discover the urban environment, and our place in it.
Intentionally stark, these black and white images reflect what it felt like to be living and exploring Boston, Somewhere Along the Curve."
Edward Boches is a Boston and Cape Cod-based photographer with a keen interest in documenting how people live, work, play, struggle and take action.
In recent years Boches has sought out subcultures that bring people together, photographing political rallies and protests, inner city boxing gyms, community centers, food pantries, and most recently volunteers.
In January 2021, he launched Postcards from Allston, in partnership with the City of Boston’s Allston Village Main Streets. The site and public installation celebrate the character, color and creativity of Allston and is intended to give the neighborhood’s creative community a voice and visibility.
In the spring of 2020 he curated and produced the website PandemicBoston.com, six projects that collectively capture how the pandemic transformed Boston’s landscape, forced behavior change, and triggered anxiety. The Boston Globe, WGBH and BU Today, among others, covered the online gallery, and in November, Pandemic Boston opened as an exhibit at Panopticon Gallery in Boston.
A self-labelled “creative activist,” Boches believes strongly that a photographer has a responsibility to give back to the communities whose stories he tells. As such he regularly conceives community-oriented creative ideas, finding ways to support food pantries, activist communities and artists with his work. He supports local journalism as a contributing photographer with the Provincetown Independent. Every year he recruits a team of photographers to volunteer their services to document the Boston Book Festival. And in partnership with Digital Silver Imaging, he donates images to Wellfleet SPAT, with all proceeds from sales going to SPAT’s shell fishermen relief fund.
