Review by curator SameSource: "In the fine art world, I regularly encounter the notion that photography is somehow more pure or special if it is all done in-camera.
To me, this is not only nonsense, it is an excuse for laziness and a lack of technical aptitude among artists. The digital darkroom is an essential part of any photographic art creation in 2019, and learning what is possible in the digital darkroom is just as important as mastering what happens with lenses and light.
The best fine art photographic compositions are conceived with an understanding of what is possible in front of the lens and on the computer editing screen. Cheryl Clegg’s Halcyon Days utilizes both of these production phases to produce a textured composite image that is stunning and interesting.
The use of composition creates flow. The negative space is textured, and the tonal range runs the full gamut. Color pulls us in for what at first look seems like a bi-chromatic image but actually is full of color texture."

Cheryl Clegg says, "The photos of my daughter over the years have evolved into surreal worlds, in remote locations, some are eerie others not. Each are meant to leave the viewer questioning what the story is that accompanies the visual."
Cheryl’s interest in photography started at a young age with a Kodak Instamatic. She attended RIT, moved to Boston and is approaching 3 decades as a commercial photographer. When not on a job, you can find her with a camera in hand, shooting one of her 5 kids sporting events.
