"My practice includes a variety of photographic mediums, techniques, and subject matter to portray the extensive, ever-changing, and multifaceted Vietnamese culture that exists at the intersection, a culture that resists limitation, control, and stagnancy.
As a photographer, my work creates conversations through diptychs, collages, and alternative photographic prints, spanning across multiple forms of image-making.
I am curious about our relationship to their surroundings, how the land reflects layers of history, and how literal and figurative spaces shape our way of life. Photographs of the daily life portray different rhythms of Vietnamese public places, from a beautifully orchestrated chaos of amiable chatters and growling mopeds to a quiet still-life display of market goods, taking the viewers through city alleys, farmland, market intersection, river deltas, and my childhood backyard garden. What is the identity of a nation if not defined by its people? This question has motivated me to record my truth. My photographs are a faithful depiction, not of objective visual qualities but of personal interpretation and response to the physical world".
Jade Nguyễn is a photographer, artist, and educator from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She is currently based in central Illinois, working as a Visiting Artist and Instructional Assistant Professor in photography and video art. She received her MFA in Photography from Illinois State University and her BFA in Photography and Graphic Design from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh.
Her work has been featured in galleries and publications including Photographic Center Northwest, Woman Made Gallery, St. Louis Artist Guild, Lenscratch Magazine, Aeonian Magazine, Studio Montclair, Praxis Gallery, Artlink, Galesburg Community Arts Center, McLean County Art Center, F-Stop Magazine, Rachel Cooper Gallery and Universities Galleries at Illinois State University, and more.

KATHRYN DUNLEVIE
"I find that the way different images and different media call to each other - whether melting together, or each staunchly holding its ground - is one of the most fascinating and exciting aspects of my practice."
Born in Atlanta, Dunlevie lived in six different states by the time she was 12, and in Paraguay when she was 16. She has a B.A. in fine arts from Rice University and studied art history and film at the University of Paris, painting at California College of the Arts, and photography in Madrid.
She has received numerous awards and fellowships, including two Arts Council Silicon Valley Artist Laureate Fellowships. Her work has been exhibited in the People's Republic of China at the Fujian Huaguang Photographic Art Museum, and at the Pingyao International Photography Festival, as well as in Moscow with the US Art in Embassies Program, at Toronto’s Gallery TPW, and in the United States at FotoFest International, San Francisco Camerawork, PhotoAlliance, the Southeast Museum of Photography, Washington DC’s Art Museum of the Americas, and the Institute of Contemporary Art San Jose.
Her work has been reviewed in Spain’s La Fotografia Actual, in Korea’s photo +, in Germany’s Profifoto, in San Francisco's Camerawork: A Journal of Photographic Arts, in Visual Art Source, and in AestheticsToday.blogs.

"I reside in the San Francisco Bay Area, Ca. I earned a B.A. from SFSU, Department of Fine Art, with an emphasis on photography. I use my camera to explore memory and perception , while attempting to extract beauty and mystery, within the transience and fragility of life.
The images here, are from my ongoing body of work, 'Spirit Animals'. This is a body of work about honoring the deer, whose land I reside in, whose presence, and by much quiet observation, has left an imprint on my heart and soul. My spiritual connection with and understanding of these majestic animals has been life altering, and began when I entered in to an unexpected, mystical relationship with one doe in particular, and her fawns. By observing the deer closely, I stepped into their fascinating and mysterious world, and it has changed me in profound ways, such as having an even deeper compassion and respect for not only the deer, but, the interconnectedness of all living things. The deer have taught me important lessons of patience, hope and resilience. For me, spending hours every day in nature and in close observation of the deer, is extremely cathartic, in the same manner that creating art is."

Surrealism has stayed with me since I first saw Man Ray’s photographs, Joseph Cornell’s boxes, and surrealist artwork. I like the fact that Surrealism took a new approach to early twentieth-century modernism. The workssubmitted to this exhibition suggest the reality of psychological states, dreams, memories andthe subconscious. My photographs juxtapose symbols and a world that is not of reality. In most of the photographs, I like to strip ordinary objects of their normal significance and go beyond ordinary prescribed arrangements.

Lisa Gizara is a California-based photographer and painter whose work spans more than 35 years. Her photography has been exhibited at the SFO Museum, the Annenberg Space for Photography, Galerie XII, and the G2 Gallery, while her paintings and photographs have appeared in numerous film and television productions, including Mad Men, Inventing Anna, Frasier, Modern Family, and Ray Donovan. Her work is held in private collections, including those of Bruce Dern and Jennifer Lawrence.
Her series Beach Life is a contemplative body of black-and-white photographs that captures fleeting moments along the California coast. The images focus on the quiet interactions between people, light, and landscape, emphasizing atmosphere and the subtle poetry of everyday life by the sea. The series reflects Gizara's broader photographic approach—minimal, observational, and deeply attuned to the emotional resonance of place.

"My photographs are entries to my soul, connecting the intangible to the tangible through light, time, and memory. Using primarily natural light to capture what I feel in my heart and see with my eyes, taking photographs has become as essential to me as breathing air, and in some ways, has evolved into my sixth sense.
Growing up with a father who was a fine artist, I was surrounded by his work and sensibilities. His influence made a profound imprint on me, and I often find myself mirroring his visual style. I innately respond to form, patterns, shapes, and composition and find that this early exposure permeates my sense of balance and style.
Sifting through my archives, the six images that I am presenting are indicative of my personal style. The motif conveyed is one of beauty. The larger series that each image is drawn from highlights my sense of wonder. Standing alone or within a series, my hope is that the viewer is uplifted by each capture."
Most recently, Mara was selected for the 2025 Photo Lucida Critical Mass ‘TOP 200’.
Her photographs have been exhibited in juried group shows both nationally and internationally in such venues as Los Angeles Center for Photography, Gallery 825 (LAAA), Photo LA, Griffin Museum and the SC Center for Photography. She has had multiple images posted on YourDailyPhotograph.comand has received numerous awards including Honorable Mention and Finalist in several categories of the 11th-26th Annual Julia Margaret Cameron Awards. She has been published in F-Stop Magazine and Shadow and Light Magazine on many occasions.
A grouping of her images taken of the performance ‘Mending’ by Donna Sternberg Dance Company was published in the L.A. Dance Chronicle. Several of her images have been included in the book titled California Love – A Visual Mixtape curated by Michael Rababy. Her interview about her journey as a photographer was published in Voyage LA.

"Currently retired in Mexico I’ve worked as a commercial and fashion photographer in NYC then as a motorcycle photo/journalist which morphed into being a motorcycle magazine publisher.
This work represents the moment I bridged from commercial photography into the motorcycle industry. It was a magical Bike Week in 1993. I had a Leica M4, M6 and the triumvirate of Summicron f/2 lenses. My fourth visit to Bike Week I knew my way around and had credentials (not that they were needed on Main Street.)
These images and more were in a show at the Spirit Square Center For The Arts in Charlotte, NC. A few art directors at a major publisher we interested until the national sales manager said, “I don’t think ‘these people’ buy books…then it went on to be one of the best years for the motorcycle industry."

Martha Clarkson is a photographic artist and writer based in Kirkland, Washington. Her photography stems from a passion to capture the subtle and overlooked details of the world around us.

"I make photographs that convey the tension between what is seen and what lies beyond, finding vocabulary for things perceived but not grasped.
My visual narratives communicate experience of liminal spaces and transitional zones—elusive glimpses of relationship between body and soul; intimate connections with the natural world in pre-dawn light; and, photo-collages of original material with correspondence from a formative love, collapsing time and integrating past with present.
I strive to create an opening into dualities, a way to be with knowing and not knowing, finding felt meaning on the cusp of language."
Mary T Faria lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her photo-based work communicates a relationship between liminal states and transformation, dwelling at the borders of light and dark, known and unknown. She has a BA in Art/Photography and an MA in Museum Studies from San Francisco State University.
Her work has been shown in group exhibitions in the US and Europe and her book, "Lingering at your window," released by Datz Press, Seoul, was launched at Paris Photo November 2023, exhibited at the Belfast Photo Festival, UK, June 2024, and has been acquired in multiple collections across the US, Europe, and Korea.

"I have been working on a couple of photographic series all based in LA for the past three years. The six photos I have presented comes from two of these series. One is titled 'Excess in LA' and the other is titled 'Streets in LA'. The one that I have not present is called 'Head in LA'. All of these are connected through what it means for me to be an immigrant in Los Angeles. All of them are thinking through what it means for me as a femme gay man from India to be intimate with a so-called big city like Los Angeles.
When I was coming to the US for my graduate studies in writing, everyone told me that if I did not learn how to drive, it was a death sentence in LA. I've thought about that a lot. What is a death sentence? What kind of death is it? And what if I accept the death sentence? What kind of possibilities can come up? So over the course of three years, I have recorded things that I have encountered while I take the public transport and walk to places in LA.
The 'Streets in LA' is particularly about objects that have been left behind. Like food items, shoes, children's toys, a bundle of licorice sticks, a part of a broken weight, and more. I am interested in the intimacy of brokenness. The idea of something that was leftover, which at one moment was dear to someone. I think about what it could mean for someone to leave something behind. Did they throw it out to the streets? Did someone steal it? Did someone just forget it? Most importantly, will someone give it a home?
I am interested in imitating, in some ways, Hollis Frampton's 1971 film Nostalgia. What kind of memories can an object on the street invoke? On the other hand, 'Excess in LA' has built on the idea of wastefulness. The wastefulness of time in public transit. The wastefulness of labor that people don't see. The labor of women. The labor of joy. The labor of sex. The labor of fantasy. All things that are consumed so easily.
I am interested in meaning-making that happens after there is an excess of something, like Valentine's Day bows, ice, or fallen oranges. I am interested in showing how excess often becomes an invitation towards imagination and asks us to slow down. As a visual artist, I am interested in thinking about migration and movement in relation to excess. I am very interested in this open call because I have never shown my work before, and I would wantto showcase the work I have done or get feedback on how I can do better."
Mayookh (He/They) is a Los Angeles-based multimedia artist from Northeast India, pursuing a Ph.D. in Creative Writing and Literature at the University of Southern California, and has an MFA from NCSU.
His work explores sexuality, art, mythology, education, and family through a queer South Asian lens. He has received the Anthony Veasna So Fiction Award (2025), the USC Del Amo Foundation Research Award (2025), and MOZAIK Philanthropy’s Future Art Writers Award (2023). He has been supported as a MacDowell Fellow, Lambda Literary Fiction Fellow and Roots.Wounds.Words Fellow.
His prose and poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in Michigan Quarterly Review, The Adroit Journal, The New Orleans Review, SUSPECT, The Audacity, and other publications.

Philip Ringler is a contemporary artist working in conceptual photography. His practice explores the unstable boundary between reality and simulation, using constructed and found environments to examine how meaning is produced through images.
