Carmen Teixidor says, "'My House' is a digital composition, an elaborate and layered vision seemingly evoking an earthly paradise. 

It was created through an open-ended process through which the final image developed in an ever growing spiraling movement. 

Rather than conveying the specifics of reality, the composition revolves around the expression of a subjective world.

It is a collage incorporating many independently created, smaller compositions. 

For example the house itself contains twenty scenes. Each scene is composed of various elements such as photographs, video stills, and even drawings. 

A she-phoenix floats above all in a blue sky, and the artist-photographer keeps photographing from her own little dark island set in swirling turquoise waters.  

Adjacent to the house are various landscapes created in a similar process.

“My House” represents an alternate reality drawn from the artist’s imagination and subconscious.  She is trying to give form to an inner landscape rooted in her personal experience of life and death, pleasure and pain. In it she has accumulated an entire universe, which she hope can become yours as you enter it."

Carmen Teixidor was born and raised in France.  She immigrated to the US as a young adult, and has lived in New York since then. 

She started her art practice as a sculptress and mosaicist.  Later on she switched to photography and video.  Presently her work is all digitized and she mainly works from her computer. In the last fifteen years she has developed a very extensive body of work through which she explored various avenues.  Because of personal and work demands, as well as a serious health problem, she has concentrated on creating new work probably at the expense of exposure.
