ENCENO DE GLORIOSO by Tori Gagne

(Click on image for larger view)
Tori Gagne says, "I chose these images for their different perspectives of the animal that has been my muse for several years.
I often take the horse down to pieces of the whole to show movement, spirit, grace, it is something I feel that I express through my photographs. I have a rescued race horse (who is not in these images), through my deep relationship with him I find that I have a connection with all horses I photograph.
The Tracks We Make was taken at a wild horse sanctuary of the owner’s own rescued horse, the image speaks for itself and is apart of a series I did that explores the magical, mythological nature of the horse. Tejo is a Lusitano whose mane is a world of unto itself. Enceno de Glorioso is an Andalusian used for vaulting I captured him exploring his reflection which in turn invites us to explore him.
My love of photography began in grade school working with a pinhole camera and watching the images come to life in the darkroom. I learned to photograph with my grandfather's Rolleiflex and developed film in the darkroom my brother built in our basement when I was 12 years old. My brother and mother, both professional photographers, and grandmother, a painter, influenced me in later years. I have a long background and career in garden design where I developed an eye for color, shape line, texture design and form.
I continued my photography studies later in life earning a BFA in fine art photography from Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I have had a love of animals from a very young age and later in life developed a love of horses. I am inspired by their power, beauty, grace, social life and the spiritual connection they provide to humans.
They are great teachers; through them I have learned many invaluable lessons. I visit wild horse sanctuaries and Bureau of Land Management lands in the US to do some of my horse photography as well as other locations around the world. I donate 10% of proceeds from selling my equine work to organizations involved in the protection and education of the wild horse population in the western US."

ANOTHER INNOCENT VICTIM by Wayne Swanson
(Click on image for larger view)
(Click on image for larger view)
Wayne Swanson says, "These images expose the sinister fantasy life of dogs.
Deep inside that cute puppy lurks a natural born killer, always on the prowl. Lions and tigers and bears, beware! You are no match for this cunning hunter. He will wring your neck and eviscerate you without a second thought. Someone, please stop him before he kills again!"
Wayne Swanson is a fine art and documentary photographer living in San Diego. Born and raised in Chicago, he still clings to his Midwestern sensibility.
He is a graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. His career has included writing and photography for newspapers, magazines, book publishers, and corporate clients. Currently focusing on fine art photography, he is drawn to images with a sense of place, atmosphere, time, memory, and a subtle sense of humor.
Recently his work was included in the “Shift” exhibition juried by Melissa Kreider at LightLeaked.com

MAPPING OUT THE WAGGLE DANCE by Wendy Savage
(Click on image for larger view)
(Click on image for larger view)
Wendy Savage says, "The ephemeral yet purposeful lives of bees are a poignant reminder of our own fragile existence in the natural world.
My work examines bees’ lives more intimately by exploring their behaviors, life cycle and subsistence. Humanity is dependent on these pollinators for its own survival. As I continue to learn and understand the connection of our lives to that of bees, I become increasingly aware of its significance. Advocacy through art inspires and motivates me to create the work that I do."
Wendy Savage has a BA in Photography from Florida State University and MFA in Visual Arts from The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. She is a retired Medical Photographer for NC State College of Veterinary Medicine. Her professional affiliations include Artspace, The National Association of Photoshop Professionals, and Art & Science Collaborations among others. Wendy has received artists grants, has been included in shows and is published in books and journals.

Henry Driftwood has been an illustrator and artist all his life. He has a bachelor's degree in Art from the University of Southern Mississippi, emphasizing figure drawing and design, and a masters in paleontology from UCLA. His graphic design work includes illustrations and photography for books and scientific papers.
